PGHSN PULSE | Eric Mac Lain Joins to Talk Pitt Success, Cal Matchup

ACC Network and ESPN football analyst Eric Mac Lain joins Nathan Breisinger and the PGHSN PULSE to discuss Pitt football’s success through the first five games, along with its upcoming matchup against the Cal Golden Bears.

Mac Lain goes in depth on Eli Holstein’s impressive play as a redshirt freshman as well as the electrifying Desmond Reid for the Panthers.

The show also talks about how Pitt will matchup with Cal and a defense that has forced a nation-best 11 interceptions on the season. On the offensive side, Cal boasts a speedy offensive core that includes running back Jadyn Ott and Javian Thomas.

To wrap up the show, Eric discusses if Pitt can sustain its strong start with a tough schedule moving forward, including Syracuse, SMU, Clemson and Louisville.

Pitt wants to be nationally recognized, then that schedule is good. Teams that are better than average, but no great teams. This is not a schedule to lose any sleep over if Pitt is truly a top team. If they play 50/50, then just another ok team.
