PITTSBURGH — Ben Sauls has been automatic this season, even from record-setting length.
Sauls lined up for a 58-yard field goal early in the second quarter against Cal, went through his usual routine and kicked the ball straight through the uprights to give the Panthers a 17-6 lead.
It ties the record for the longest field goal in Pittsburgh, alongside former kicker Alex Kessman in 2020, and it’s the longest field goal by a Pitt kicker at Acrisure Stadium.
Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Chris Boswell holds the all-time record at Acrisure Stadium, beating Sauls by one yard.
Sauls hasn’t missed this season, connecting on all 10 of his field goal attempts and all 28 of his point-after attempts. He’s connected on all three of his field attempts of at least 50 yards this season.
Sauls has connected on 41-of-50 field goal attempts (82%), and he’s taken his game to new heights this season.
He should be firmly on the NFL radar following the season.
Will kick on Sundays.
