“The main thing I was working on after having conversations with coach, end-of-season conversations with coach is just handling the ball more and stressing being more confident in my jumper,” Austin said. “When I got here, we all know I can shoot the ball better than what I did last year. My main focus is just being more consistent in all areas in a game. Staying consistent on defense, staying consistent on my shot, just believing and trusting in the work that I put in every day.”

Austin recently scored 12 points in Pitt’s secret scrimmage win over Cincinnati, according to a source. He also contributed with five rebounds and two blocked shots in the secret scrimmage victory.

Pitt is heading into year seven of the Capel era, and the program has been trending in the right direction the past two seasons after a bumpy first four years in his tenure. Capel has earned 46 wins over the past two seasons, just shy of the 51 total wins he had in his first four seasons at the helm. The Panthers brought in Cam Corhen as well as guard Damian Dunn through the transfer portal, while also bringing in freshmen Ndiaye, Brandin “Beebah” Cummings, and Amsal Delalic, a 6-foot-9 guard out of Bosnia and Herzegovina who is currently recovering from a hand injury.
