Pitt Target Amari Evans Commits to Tennessee

Published

on

2025 four-star guard prospect Amari Evans took an official visit to Tennessee this past weekend. He is a top Pittsburgh target, too.

On Friday afternoon, Pitt recruiting target Amari Evans committed to Tennessee over Pitt and Xavier.

Evans is ranked as the No. 74 player in the senior class of 2025 by 247 Sports’ Composite Rankings. Two of 247 Sports’ insiders, Colby Giacubeno and Travis Branham, have predicted that Evans will end up at Tennessee. The 6-foot-5, 200-pound guard currently plays for Overtime Elite, but began his high-school career in the WPIAL playing for Bishop Canevin. Evans plays alongside fellow Pittsburgh native Meleek Thomas in Atlanta for OTE’s City Reapers squad.

So far, Evans is averaging 19.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game early on in his senior campaign at OTE.Evans has visited Pitt numerous times, including an official visit back in June. He took official visits to all three of his final three schools: Pitt, Tennessee, and Xavier.

Evans joined The Pittsburgh Basketball Show months ago to break down his visit to Pitt and talk more about his recruitment at the time. Check out the interview below.

Witherspoon recently joined PSN on The Pittsburgh Basketball Show to break down his decision to come to Pitt and preview his senior season. He plays for the same high school that current Panther Ishmael Leggett played for years ago.

Can’t recruit today without the full 20 million. Football team has a measly 6 million dollars this year imagine what kind of crumbs the basketball team is working with. It’s time the owner of Carolina Panthers starts helping Pitt out I mean he named them the Panthers he has to obviously care about the Pitt Panthers.

Not true at all! Pitt’s med school is currently ranked #6 in the country this year alone, and they have UPMC money for research and support.

UT paid him more NIL money, period!!! We need to start publishing the amount each athletes receives, but then it will probably become an open bidding war.
H2P!!!

Jeez Kevin, I was just being sarcastic! When is or who is the last PITT athlete to become an MD or DMD????? Scholarships were the mechanism “ back in the day” that funded the education that would allow student athletes to graduate with degrees and go forth to serve their fellow citizens. In contrast, scholarships+++ allow people to keep playng childhood games and most receiving them make no significant impact to better society.
