On Monday, the 2024-25 college basketball season will officially tip off, and all three local Division One teams will be playing.
Pitt’s men’s team will be hosting Big South opponent Radford in its season-opener at 7 p.m. at the Petersen Events Center. The Duquesne men will host Lipscomb at 8 p.m. at the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse. Andy Toole’s Robert Morris Colonials will travel to Morgantown to play West Virginia at 7 p.m.
On the women’s side, Dan Burt’s Duquesne Dukes will be the only women’s Division One team in action on Monday, hosting the Princeton Tigers at 5 p.m. ahead of the men’s competition.
Burt led Duquesne to a 21-13 record last season, going 13-5 in A10 play. The Dukes are looking to return to the NCAA Tournament this season for the first time since the 2015-16 campaign. Burt is fresh off of a contract extension that he signed this summer, and is heading into the year with star guard Megan McConnell and company ready to make some noise in the Atlantic 10.
