PITTSBURGH — Pitt football wide receivers coach JJ laster and senior wide out Konata Mumpfield took to the podium Tuesday on the South Side to talk about the Panthers’ receiving performance in the team’s loss at SMU.
Laster fielded questions regarding Pitt’s offensive downturn over the past few weeks and drops that hurt the Panthers at SMU. He discussed how his receivers assess whether they are facing zone or man coverage and how they attack those defenses.
He also noted that Mumpfield, a captain, and the rest of the team held a players-only meeting on Sunday following the loss.
When Mumpfield stepped to the podium, he discussed Pitt’s receiver group and how it needs to improve moving forward. He also touched on what type of leadership he is trying to provide following the loss.
