National Analyst: Jaland Lowe ‘One of the Best NBA Prospects in the ACC’

Adam Finkelstein broke down several collegiate players who he believes are NBA prospects. Finkelstein's first prospect? Jaland Lowe.

Jaland Lowe has been on the receiving end of lots of praise throughout this past offseason and this week, and for good measure.

Lowe, Pitt’s starting point guard, starred in his role last year for the Panthers as just a freshman. Now, as a sophomore, he has the keys to Pitt’s offense with Bub Carrington off to the NBA. In Pitt’s first game of the season, a win over Radford, Lowe posted one of the more impressive stat lines that you will see from a collegiate guard. In fact, data analyst Evan Miyakawa even listed Lowe’s stat line as a top-five game out of all players from the first two nights of the season.

Ken Pomeroy's analytics seemed to like Pitt's performance. After the win, Pitt jumped from No. 37 to No. 32 in Kenpom's rankings.

In the 40-point victory, Lowe posted an impressive stat line of 21 points, five rebounds, and six assists. He went 6 for 11 from the field, 7 for 7 from the free-throw line, and 2 for 4 from three-point range. Lowe also had three steals, and did not turn the ball over a single time.

Now, Lowe is receiving even more praise, this time from another well-respected national analyst, 247 Sports’ Adam Finkelstein.

On Sam Vecenie’s “Game Theory” podcast, Finkelstein and Vecenie broke down several collegiate players who they believe are NBA prospects. Finkelstein’s first prospect? Lowe.

“One of the best, I think, NBA prospects in the ACC. Someone who is, I think, going to have a huge breakout sophomore season — that doesn’t sound like such a hot take after he started the year with 21, six, five, and three, with zero turnovers, or something absurd like that…”

Finkelstein spoke more about his first time watching Lowe at Peach Jam years ago.

“…I think that last year we saw an idea of what he could look like,” Finkelstein continued. “Not initially, because he had a little bit of a preseason injury, but later in the year, when he got in the starting lineup and in ACC play, in particular, the numbers really told the story…”

He’s a really nice college player but I don’t think he’s anywhere near athletic enough to play in the nba. Great euro prospect imo.
