PITTSBURGH — Already without its top wide receiver, Pitt lost a second wide out in the second half against the Virginia Cavaliers.
Redshirt junior Daejon Reynolds was twisted up near the Pitt sideline after finishing a completion play of nine yards. He was helped off the field and went immediately to the medical tent. After evaluation, Reynolds was taken to the locker room.
It comes after Pitt’s No. 1 receiving option, senior Konata Mumpfield, left the game with an apparent head injury after diving for the ball and hitting his head hard off the ground.
Up until Reynolds left the game, he had yet to record a reception on the evening. Reynolds finished the night with one reception for nine yards.
Reynolds, who stands at 6-2, 210 pounds, has been a depth receiving option for the Panthers this season, recording six receptions for 89 yards. A big chunk of that yardage came on his lone touchdown catch of the year against the West Virginia Mountaineers. The 40-yard reception helped Pitt come-from-behind in the Backyard Brawl.
Since transferring from Florida in 2023, Reynolds has caught 34 passes for 405 yards and one touchdown.
Pitt quarterback Eli Holstein also left the game against the Cavaliers with an apparent head injury.
