Pitt Crashes Out of AP Poll Following Second Straight Loss

It doesn’t come as a surprise that national media and college coaches aren’t high on the Pitt Panthers following a second straight loss.

Pitt fell completely out of the AP Poll following a 24-19 loss to Virginia Saturday night at Acrisure Stadium, receiving 18 votes (28th-most in the poll). The Panthers also dropped out of the Coaches Poll, receiving 30 votes (29th-most in the poll).

The AP Poll still has Miami as the highest-ranked ACC school, dropping to No. 12. SMU (14th), Clemson (17th) and Louisville (22nd) are also ranked. Pitt is the lone ACC school receiving votes.

Miami is still the top-ranked ACC squad in the Coaches Poll, despite a loss to Georgia Tech, checking in at No. 12. SMU (13th), Clemson (16th) and Louisville (24th) are also ranked. Pitt and Duke received votes.

Pitt was woefully unprepared and failed to adjust in a bad loss to Virginia, and for the second straight week, Pat Narduzzi blamed himself.

“It starts with me, starts with our coaches putting our kids in position to make plays,” Narduzzi said Saturday night. “We had way too many penalties in the first half offensively. Again, we got iPads. So I’m seeing a lot of things on iPads. But we lost as a team. Again, it starts with me. I’ve got to do a better job getting our guys prepared. I thought we had a great week of practice, but Virginia came in with a week off and did a nice job.”

Pitt dropped to 7-2 (3-2 ACC) with the loss to Virginia, a 7.5-point underdog, and the record now doesn’t do a good job highlighting the hole Pitt has fallen into over the last month.

The road ahead doesn’t get any easier as the Panthers welcome Clemson to Acrisure Stadium next weekend and hit the road in two weeks to play Louisville.

Mix in some Zone Read Blocking and less of the RPO pocket. The tackles are getting beat on RPO pocket blocking. Watch Baltimore Ravens use of tight end in Zone Read action in both directions.
But you got to catch the ball or use one less slick, ours looks slick.
