Robert Morris basketball guard Kam Woods injured his lower body in a win over Chatham on Sunday, November 10, 2024.

On Sunday, Robert Morris’ men’s basketball team took down Chatham (D3) 79-51 for its first win of the 2024-25 season.

After a strong first frame, Andy Toole’s Colonials opened the second half on an 11-0 run, with buckets coming from Josh Omojafo, Ryan Prather Jr., Alvaro Folgueiras, and DJ Smith.

Prather and Folgueiras led the Colonials with 19 points apiece in the victory. Prather went 5 for 8 from the field and 4 for 6 from three-point range, while Folgueiras went an efficient 8 for 9 from the field. Nine different Colonials scored in the game.

Robert Morris shot 50% from the field as a team, and 39% from three. The Colonials also converted 80% of their free-throw tries in the win, and out-rebounded Chatham 50-32 on the day.

While the win comes as a nice reward for Andy Toole’s group, the team lost an important member during the game when Kam Woods went down with an apparent lower-body injury. Woods, with 12:10 remaining in the first half, exited the game and did not return. In the second half, Woods returned to the bench, on crutches, and out of uniform.

In those first eight minutes, Woods went 1 for 4 from the field for two points. He also had two rebounds and two assists at the time of his injury.

PSN will keep RMU fans updated on Woods’ status.

The Colonials (1-2) will now host an MTE at UPMC Events Center this upcoming week. First, they will take on Stonehill on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. Then, they’ll play Lindenwood on Friday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. Finally, RMU will wrap up the weekend against New Orleans on Sunday, Nov. 17 at 4 p.m.
