It’s not 100% decided yet, but the kickoff time between Pitt and Louisville has been narrowed down.
The ACC announced Monday that Pitt vs. Louisville will kick off at L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium in Louisville at 3:30 or 4 p.m. on ESPN2, with a final time designation to be decided on Nov. 16. The broadcast team will be announced next week.
Pitt is 11-9 all-time against Louisville, dating back to a 27-6 win in the first meeting in 1976. It’s been a series of runs all time. Pitt won the first four meetings; Louisville won the next seven meetings between 1990-2007 and Pitt has won seven of the last nine meetings.
Pitt won the second most recent matchup 23-20 in 2020, a performance in which Kenny Pickett threw for 220 yards and two touchdowns and the defense forced three Cunningham interceptions, Louisville won the last matchup in Louisville off a poor performance from former quarterback Kedon Slovis and the Panthers upset then-No. 14 Louisville at Acrisure Stadium last season.
Louisville is 6-3 (4-2 ACC) and coming off a bye week. The Cardinals knocked off Clemson, 33-21, in their last outing to climb inside the top 25.
Louisville quarterback Tyler Shough is in the midst of a strong final season, after transferring in from Texas Tech, and running back Isaac Brown is one of the most versatile players in college football as a true freshman.
Pitt is coming off its worst performance of the season against Virginia. The Panthers came out flat, failed to adjust and went out with a whimper against Virginia. Pat Narduzzi blamed himself for the second weekend in a row.
“It starts with me, starts with our coaches putting our kids in position to make plays,” Narduzzi said Saturday night. “We had way too many penalties in the first half offensively. Again, we got iPads. So I’m seeing a lot of things on iPads. But we lost as a team. Again, it starts with me. I’ve got to do a better job getting our guys prepared. I thought we had a great week of practice, but Virginia came in with a week off and did a nice job.”
The Panthers dropped to 7-2 (3-2 ACC) with the loss to Virginia, a 7.5-point underdog, and the record doesn’t do a good job highlighting the hole they’ve fallen into over the last month.
Pitt has Clemson on the schedule next, a noon kickoff at Acrisure Stadium this weekend, and Louisville is up after that.
