On Monday, five-star basketball prospect Meleek Thomas will choose between Pitt, UConn, and Arkansas for his collegiate home.

Thomas, a 6-foot-4 guard, has been a five star for years now. The former WPIAL star began his high-school career at Lincoln Park alongside current Pitt Panther guard Brandin “Beebah” Cummings. Then, this past summer, Thomas decided to join his friend Amari Evans and a long list of other top prospects and go down to Atlanta to play for Overtime Elite.

Now, his decision day is finally here. Thomas’ recruitment had many high-majors involved throughout the years. Just two months ago, Thomas’ recruitment included coaches from Kansas State, Alabama, and others watching him and visiting the Steel City to see him. Now, down to just three schools, several analysts believe that Arkansas will be the pick for Thomas, however, his camp has been quiet surrounding the commitment. So, let’s see who he picks.

The highly-touted guard won back-to-back WPIAL and PIAA titles last high-school season as a sophomore and junior at Lincoln Park, averaging 22.7 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. He has been a significant Pitt target since early in his high school career and has been to numerous games over the past few seasons alongside his former teammate Cummings.

“The culture of basketball in Pittsburgh I would say, it’s not really known for basketball,” Thomas said in a promotional video for Gatorade. “To bring a basketball culture, I want other kids and people to do what I do and just creating a basketball culture inside of my city it’s just, it’s a blessing.”

Would love to see him play at Pitt but I’m going to guess UConn. Good coach, high visibility, chance for a title ….

I hate when recruits narrow it down to 3 until the day they pick… like you didn’t know 4 days ago… just pick. You’re going to get paid at Arkansas …. Quit stringing fanbases along for your own mini soap opera…. Who paid you? Just pick already… cut the cord.

Unless our new A.D. has the money acquired already, he is going to Arkansas.

If he was smart and REALY wants the best shot at winning a championship and becoming a pro that LASTS in the NBA he goes to Connecticut.
