On Wednesday, class-of-2025 prospect Omari Witherspoon officially signed with Pitt, at his high school St. John’s College Prep in Washington D.C.
Witherspoon is a 6-foot-4 guard who chose the Panthers over Maryland and Vanderbilt this fall. Earlier this summer, the 6-foot-4 guard was not entirely on high-major radars. However, with a big summer session, he caught the eyes of many high-major coaches and scouts alike.
In 247 Sports’ Composite Rankings, he has jumped all the way up to the No. 88 player in the country recently. Witherspoon is a four-star recruit, and is the only high-school prospect currently in Pitt’s class of 2025. However, the Panthers have lots of youth within the program, including freshmen Brandin “Beebah” Cummings, Amsal Delalic, Amdy Ndiaye, Papa Amadou Kante, and Marlon Barnes Jr.
Witherspoon joins the list of talented DMV-area guards to recently join Jeff Capel’s program, following Bub Carrington and Leggett. Leggett also went to Saint John’s College High School in D.C. for his prep career.

Welcome to PITT! Looking forward to seeing Omari represent PITT as a student/athlete!
I have followed Pitt hoops since Billy Knight and one thing I am sick of is the high school kids with the top 10, 5, 3 lists. Witherspoon didn’t make the big deal out of it compared to M Thomas. I wish we could go back to the days when kids just signed without all the nonsense that goes with it. Maybe because i am old.
Agreed!!!You are old lol..Just the way it is my friend. It’s all about me me me me…
