Big Recruiting Weekend for Pitt: 2026 3-Star OT Ben Congdon

Published

It would be an understatement to say that this weekend will be a big weekend both on and off the field for the Pitt football program.

On the field, Pitt will be looking to get their season back on track and break a current 2-game losing streak. That obviously will not be easy as they host the premier program in the conference, the Clemson Tigers. Clemson enters the game with a record of 7-2 and ranked No. 20 in the most recent College Football Playoff rankings.

When you host a program like Clemson, coupled with it being the last home game of the season, this Saturday will also serve as a big recruiting weekend for Pat Narduzzi’s program. Earlier this year in the Backyard Brawl against West Virginia, Pitt had a large number of recruits take unofficial visits, but we anticipate this being their biggest recruiting weekend of the season.

Over the next few days, PSN will be letting you know of the recruits who plan on attending on Saturday. We anticipate it being a mix of current 2025 Pitt commitments, 2026 recruits with offers but also players that could be receiving an offer from Pitt in the near future.

First up is 2026 3-star recruit Ben Congdon.

Congdon is a 6-foot-7, 270-pound offensive tackle from Tuscarawas Valley High School in City Mineral, Ohio, which is about 90 minutes from Pittsburgh.

At this stage of this recruitment, Congdon holds offers from Kentucky, Marshall, Maryland, NC State, Syracuse and South Florida.

PSN caught up with Congdon to get his thoughts on making his first visit to Pitt.

“I have a decent relationship with Pitt and Seth Arnold (Pitt recruiting assistant),” said Congdon. “We’ve been going back and forth for a couple days just talking about us and about Pitt. This is the first time I’m visiting Pitt and I’m looking forward to seeing the Pitt offensive line play and hopefully watch Pitt come out with a win.”

“To describe myself as a player, I would say I’m dedicated and have heart for the game and will put the work in when no one else will. If I were to get an offer from Pitt, it means that they care about me and they want to develop me into an educated man in the classroom and also develop me on the field as well.”

PSN will have more of these recruiting capsules over the next few days of visitors for the Pitt/Clemson game.
