Carnegie Mellon men’s basketball head coach Tony Wingen reached the 400-win milestone earlier this week with a win over Chatham.

Wingen, the reigning UAA Coach of the Year, has been the winningest coach in Carnegie Mellon history since 2006. Now, he has reached the landmark of 400 wins. He has won the conference’s Coach of the Year award three times and has led the Tartans to three NCAA Tournament appearances at the Division III level, including last season. Five of Wingen’s former players have gone on to play professional basketball.

In the 88-66 win over Chatham, eight different Tartans scored, and a particular group of three players led the way: Justin Allen, Buckley DeJardin, and R.J. Holmes. Allen went for 30 points, going 10 for 18 from the field and also dishing out three assists. DeJardin posted a 21-point outing, hitting six of his ten attempts. Holmes had yet another strong game scoring and on the boards, dropping 18 points and nine rebounds in the win.

As a team, the Tartans shot 49% from the field and 37% from three-point range in the victory. Their next game comes on this upcoming Saturday, when they will take on Denison. The game will be played at Denison at 8 p.m. est.

Following that game, the Tartans will return home for a game against Penn State-Behrend. That game, on Monday, Nov. 18, will tip off at 7 p.m. est.
