The Pitt football program will be hosting players in various classes that currently hold an offer from Pitt along with ones that hope to receive one in the future.

That is the case that 2026 3-star offensive lineman Steven Pickard Jr. finds himself in. The 6-foot-5, 300-pound offensive guard from IMG Academy is making the trip to Pittsburgh to check out Pitt and to continue to build a relationship with the program.

“I’m originally from the Northeast, Syracuse, NY, and grew up watching ACC football,” Pickard told PSN. “I loved watching teams like Pitt, Syracuse and Boston College play each other. My family moved to Charleston, South Carolina in 2017 and my interest in ACC football expanded to teams in the Southeast like NC State, Virginia, Clemson, Duke and Georgia Tech. I have visited and maintain relationships with coaches from all of these schools. It’s always been a goal of mine to have the opportunity to play football in the ACC.”

“The reason for my visit is to learn more about Pitt football, its culture, and gameday atmosphere. I’m excited to meet more of the coaches and staff and further develop meaningful relationships. I began communicating with Coach Oren Wilson, Assistant Director of Player Personnel, in August of this year. Coach Wilson has been very generous with his time, evaluating my film on different occasions and providing feedback. I’ve been able to take his feedback and apply it to my work on the practice field and games on Friday nights. I’m very grateful for Coach Wilson’s feedback and value his input. I can’t wait to meet him in person.”

Pickard told PSN that this will be his first visit to Pittsburgh and while at the game, he plans on zeroing in on a certain thing.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the offensive line,” said Pickard. “How they are coached, play and interact as a unit. I’m interested in seeing their mentality, physicality, techniques and blocking schemes.”

“I am a very physical offensive lineman who likes to finish blocks. I’m blessed with size and strength at a true and verified 6-5, 305 pounds, and I use that to my advantage. At the same time, I am constantly working on speed, agility and technique to become a better player. This my first season at IMG. IMG has exposed me to a higher level of coaching, offensive blocking schemes and Florida competition.”

Pickard has made plenty of GameDay and unofficial visits to various programs this season such as Central Florida, Florida, South Florida, Syracuse, NC State, James Madison, Boston College and now Pitt. Pickard is looking forward to the visit and hopes that it could lead to him earning an offer from the Panthers.

“An offer from Pitt would truly be a blessing for me,” said Pickard. “The opportunity to attend a well-respected academic institution and play for a competitive program is everything I’ve been working for.”
