PITTSBURGH — Pitt quarterback Nate Yarnell and linebacker Kyle Louis spoke with the media following the Panthers’ loss to No. 20 Clemson, 24-20.

Yarnell, who made his fourth-career start filling in for Eli Holstein, completed 35-of-54 passes for 350 yards, a touchdown to tight end Gavin Bartholomew and a game-sealing interception.

The redshirt junior spoke on his performance, along with shouldering the blame for Pitt’s inability to reach the end zone on a fourth-quarter drive that saw Pitt reach the Clemson 2-yard line. After three penalties, Pitt had to settle for a Ben Sauls field goal.

Louis spoke on behalf of Pitt’s defensive performance as it limited Clemson’s ground game until quarterback Cade Klubnik’s 50-yard touchdown with 1:16 to go in the game.

The redshirt sophomore also touched on Pitt’s first half adjustment after allowing a pair of Clemson touchdowns up the seam, along with numerous completions of 10 or more yards.

They don’t need to be ashamed about this loss unlike last week. They played Clemson tough.

Shoe string tackle and almost goal zone marker touch by Reid (11 point difference). He is legit and tough. Defense was soft at end of 1st Half and aggressive on last Clemson drive. Game of inches. #h2P, those guys make it interesting and miserable in just 3-hours. What kind of anxiety medicine and Coping skills do you need to be an ACC referee? There was some awkward situations all game including our Offense preSnap… Read more »
