PITTSBURGH — On Monday, Pitt football head coach Pat Narduzzi informed the media that one of the Panthers’ linebackers is done for the season with an injury.
Jordan Bass, a sophomore, is officially done for the season and will have surgery on Monday, Narduzzi announced.
“Jordan Bass is done for the year as well. He’ll have surgery today as well,” Narduzzi said at his Monday press conference.
Bass, who has backed up Kyle Louis at the Star linebacker position, was not dressed on Saturday against Clemson.
The Hampton, Va. native played in nine games this season for Pitt, recording 14 total tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, one sack and two quarterback hurries. Against Syracuse, Bass tallied four solo tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss, the most this season.
Bass became an immediate impact last season as a true freshman, starting one game, while appearing in 10. He compiled 11 tackles and two sacks on the season.
With Bass out for the year, Louis will be expected to lug most of the snaps, while Pitt lists Braylon Lovelace and Rasheem Biles as the backups on the most recent two-deep roster.
Narduzzi also noted that running back Daniel Carter had surgery on Sunday and wide receiver Censere Lee had a procedure done on Monday after both getting carted off the field during the Clemson game.
Louis Lovelace and Biles should never come off the field. George should play sparingly, and Key Thompson shouldn’t see the field
George should play sparingly. Good to know someone else see it as well. Lovelace can play Mike linebacker.
