Published

on

Pitt point guard Jaland Lowe was featured in a commercial/advertisement for Grind Basketball, showing off the shooting machine.

As Monday’s AP Poll was released, Pitt’s name was included for the first time this season.

The Panthers were listed as “receiving votes” in this week’s AP Poll. 11 teams outside of the top 25 received more votes than Pitt. The Panthers received nine votes.

Pitt is off to a 4-0 start after beating Radford, Murray State, Gardner Webb, and West Virginia. The Panthers’ wins have catapulted them near the top of college basketball in several different analytical rankings. Ken Pomeroy’s rankings have Pitt listed at No. 19 in the nation. Evan Miyakawa’s rankings have the team listed at No. 22 in the country right now. Bart Torvik’s T-rank metric has the Panthers at No. 32 in the country.

Pitt’s next game will come on Monday night against VMI at home. The Panthers will host the Keydets in a non-conference matchup at 7 p.m. Pitt is a 34.5-point favorite.

The game will tip off at 7 p.m. on ACC Network Extra and 93.7 The Fan live from the Petersen Events Center.

i don’t see them getting ranked unless they win greenbrier. i’m sure there are teams currently ranked that aren’t that much better but closing the pre-season gap always is hard. H2P !

I see the pollsters are already setting up the “ACC is down this year” story to justify only 4 teams getting in the NCAA Tournament.

So Rutgers was 15-17 last year but somehow are #24. Makes sense.

Call me crazy, but if you have watched this team they are top 20. We will see, but typical underestimating a Pitt basketball team.

We’ll see against LSU if they’re a top 20 team. And against Mississippi State.
