Brandin “Beebah” Cummings is the youngest player on the Pitt team by a wide margin.
Born in August 2005, Cummings is more than one year younger than Papa Amadou Kante, Amsal Delalic, and Amdy Ndiaye, Pitt’s three other freshmen.
Despite his age, Cummings has made an early impact with Pitt in just about every game of the Panthers’ 5-0 start so far. Whether he is diving on the floor for a loose ball, hitting an open three, or locking up the opponent’s guards, Cummings has shown that he can do all of that, and more, while just a freshman.
“I thought one of the sparks of the game was Beebah,” head coach Jeff Capel said after the Murray State win. “He drove it to the middle and hit Guillermo for a three that he made, and then the very next play in transition, he made a heck of a pass down to Guillermo for a dunk. That got the crowd back in it and gave us a little bit of a cushion, and then we were able to make some plays down the stretch.”
Cummings has earned double-digit minutes in four of Pitt’s five games so far. He is averaging six points per game while shooting 44% from the field. He has grabbed seven rebounds for Pitt, and only has two turnovers.
“…With Beebah, like I told him after the game, he had a huge impact on the game, and not one thing came from him taking a shot,” Capel added. “It was him driving and kicking to the open guy, making the right play…”
Drop the nickname nonsense…
Why, that’s his nickname. Nelly’s name isn’t actually “Nelly”, it’s Renell. Ppl have nicknames, it’s better than BC3.
What is YOUR nickname?
We have called him Beebah from birth
