Pitt defensive back commit Elijah Dotson.

In a move that was pretty much expected but became official today, Pitt lost the top-rated recruit in their Class of 2025.

4-star star wide receiver/defensive back Elijah Dotson announced that he was flipping his commitment from Pitt to the hometown Michigan Wolverines.

Dotson originally committed to Archie Collins and Pitt back on May 18th, but the tea leaves recently were no doubt indicating a flip was going to happen.

The native of Belleville High School in Detroit, Michigan started to receive heavy interest from other programs, including receiving an offer from LSU and a heavy pursuit from both Iowa and Michigan State.

Then, Dotson made two recent visits to Michigan, including an official visit on October 26th and then an unofficial one the following weekend on November 2nd.

In making this flip, Dotson told 247 Sports, “I want to make my hometown great.”

Although he’s able to play on both sides of the ball, like Pitt, Michigan is recruiting Dotson to play defensive back.

Michigan really put on a big pursuit of Dotson after losing 4-star safety Ivan Taylor, who flipped his commitment from Michigan to Alabama.

Well, that seemed inevitable, so….at least there’s no more suspense about the situation.

The flip has nothing to do with wins and losses. The kid committed in May after a 3-9 season.

Probably a better choice for the young man … best wishes Elijah. H2P !

No best wishes here. You made a commitment and you backed out on it. Money talks and the temptation of it diminishes loyalty and integrity.
I am not sad about Dotson, I am sad for college football.

Well said.
College football is being ruined. It’s sad to watch. It’s really hard for me to care much about any of this like I once did.

I’m pissed, if you’re going to end up flipping your commitment, then why the hell didn’t you just commit their in the first damn place! And Michigan sucks ass right now anyways! Have fun losing to OSU and Oregon!

Well, Michigan didn’t offer right away. Like most kids, he takes the best power 4 offer as a place holder and when a better one comes along they jump. Michigan might stink right now, but they are 30 min from home, better education and 100k rabid fans ever week. He was always going there.

I doubt he will receive a better education. Also let us see how long for him to be a starter.
