Pitt Rises Again in KenPom Rankings After Beating LSU

After beating LSU at The Greenbrier on Friday night, Pitt basketball once again rose in Ken Pomeroy’s rankings.

The Panthers shot up as high as 11 in Pomeroy’s rankings, but on Saturday, after some more results from late Friday night came through, the Panthers were at No. 13 in the nation in his rankings.

Pitt is currently 6-0 with dominant wins over power-four teams West Virginia and LSU. The Panthers have also handily taken down Radford, Murray State, Gardner-Webb, and VMI. Pitt’s next game will come on Sunday evening in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia against Wisconsin, who is ranked No. 19 in the current AP Poll and is listed at No. 30 on Pomeroy’s rankings.

The Badgers handled previously-undefeated UCF in their opening game at The Greenbrier on Friday night, winning 86-70. For Greg Gard’s squad, John Tonje and John Blackwell led the way in the victory. Nolan Winter grabbed ten rebounds, while starting big man Steven Crowl fouled out after playing just 14 minutes in the game.

Jaland Lowe led the way for Pitt in the win over LSU, dropping a career-high 22 points, along with eight rebounds, six assists, and three steals.

 

Alongside Lowe, Ishmael Leggett had 21 points, six rebounds, and five assists in the winning effort, while big man Cam Corhen shined to the tune of 14 points and five rebounds. Starting guard Damian Dunn fouled out in just 12 minutes played, but in his absence, Zack Austin posted ten points and Beebah Cummings also contributed three, hitting a three pointer off the bench.
