Pitt has just one more game remaining in the regular season, and it gives the Panthers one last chance to stop the slide.
Pitt is headed to The CW Network for the first time this season. Thom Brennaman will handle play-by-play duties, former Pitt quarterback Max Browne will serve as his analyst and Treavor Scales will report from the sideline.
Bill Hillgrove — nearing the end of his 51st season as the voice of the Pitt Panthers — will handle play-by-play duties on 93.7 the Fan and the Pitt Radio Network as usual, with Pat Bostick serving as his analyst and Larry Richert and Dorin Dickerson reporting from the field at Acrisure Stadium.
Pitt will conclude its regular season at Memorial Stadium on Nov. 30. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. on The CW. The CW Network will be shown locally on WPNT-TV, channel 22, in Pittsburgh.
Boston College is sitting at 6-5 (3-4 ACC) this season, achieving bowl eligibility with a big 41-21 win against North Carolina over the weekend.
Thomas Castellanos, who started the majority of the last two seasons at quarterback, was benched and subsequently left the program. Backup Grayson James is the starter moving forward.
The Panthers are 18-15 all-time against the Eagles, dating back to an inaugural win in Boston way back in 1959. After losing two back-to-back games in 1970 and 1971, Pitt won eight straight matchups into the early 80s.
Boston College was the better team in the 1990s, losing just twice, but Pitt is 6-3 since the turn of the century. However, the Eagles did win the last two matchups in 2019 and 2020.
Pitt knocked Boston College, 24-16, at Acrisure Stadium behind a 145-yard, 1-touchdown performance from Rodney Hammond Jr.
But Pitt is coming off four straight losses as it stands, falling 37-9 to Louisville last weekend. Eli Holstein is unlikely to play after suffering what appeared to be a serious ankle injury, but there’s no excuse for the Panthers with just one more game to go in the regular season.
“It’s a game of life, right? This is places we’ve been before,” Pat Narduzzi said Monday at his weekly presser. “As a matter of fact, I think last year we had a crappy season if I recall. We came back. And how do we do that? How do we come back on senior day and beat BC last year, last game of the season? I don’t have a clue how we did it, but we did. That’s kind of what happens.
“It’s a game. Sometimes you play good teams …Â We’re a damn good football team. We’ve got talent in that room. We’ve just got to put it all together. Like I said, when you’re snakebitten, or the perfect storm, but we just seem to not be able to stay healthy, especially on the offensive side of the ball, whatever it may be.”

The offense better have a different game plan, our defense won’t be able to withstand multiple three and outs by our offense. If we don’t use wildcat, or utilize run block schemes, our quarterback will get killed again.
I’m hoping the new AD will want one of his guys on the sidelines next season. It’s not unusual. I like Pat Narduzzi and we’ve had some bursts of success. But, basically we’re mid and I’m not sure how mid opens wallets. An exciting new hire in store? I’m open to that. H2P!
