Juelz Goff Receiving Extended Run Against Boston College

Pitt running back Juelz Goff.

Pitt entered its regular season finale with some questions at running back, and that was before Derrick Davis Jr. went down with a seemingly serious knee injury.

Davis went down early in the second quarter. Desmond Reid and Montravius Lloyd didn’t even make the trip, Daniel Carter was already ruled out for the season with a season-ending ankle injury and Rodney Hammond Jr. opted to redshirt.

So, that left Juelz Goff as the lone back.

Goff, who arrived over the winter as a three-star recruit out of Central York High, received his second action of the season against Boston College.

Through three quarters, operating as the primary back, he received eight carries for 17 yards and caught two passes for 14 yards — working behind a porous offensive line. Regardless, it’s good work for Goff, who should feature more heavily in the running back rotation next season.

Goff made his collegiate debut against Louisville, playing 12 snaps but didn’t receive a carry. He’s a lightning-quick running back who hasn’t had a chance to show it against Boston College, but he has a bright future in Pittsburgh.

Pat Narduzzi said before the Louisville game that he hoped to get Goff some snaps, and while it probably didn’t work out the way Pitt wanted, it’s a valuable learning experience.

Good for him. The Y.Willis kid that was committed but jumped to Syracuse but got hurt at the end of that game looked great too. Remember Narduzzi was recruiting WR Nick Marsh who went to Michigan State and had a stellar year as WR. I don’t understand how contributors and commenters on PSN do not recognize these Coaches recruit guys they can get and show interest back. Quit discounting these young mens ability they are legit D1 athletes. I am glad Nate Temple #6 DE got some playing time yesterday, that had to feel good for him to get back… Read more »
