Pitt WR Konata Mumpfield Accepts All-Star Game Invite

Pitt has been well-represented at the Shrine Bowl in recent seasons, and that will continue with — at least — Konata Mumpfield.

Mumpfield has accepted an invite to the 2025 Shrine Bowl, the All-Star event announced on Twitter. It’s a big opportunity for the 6-foot-1, 185-pound wideout from Hoschton, Ga.

Bub Means, M.J. Devonshire and Matt Goncalves attended the Shrine Bowl earlier this year, and all three were selected in the 2024 NFL Draft. Mumpfield will look to continue the trend.

Mumpfield started his collegiate career at Akron, earning Freshman All-American honors in 2021, and he transferred to Pitt before the 2022 season.

He entered the program with high expectations, coming off an ACC championship-winning season, and while there have been ups and downs, Mumpfield has flashed an impressive skillset the entire way. He’s not the biggest or the fast wideout, but he has consistently worked himself open in Pittsburgh.

He’s in the midst of his best collegiate season, leading the Panthers on and off the field as a team captain.

“He’s lead by example, like on Sunday, they had an all-players meeting, they had a players-only meeting,” wide receivers coach JJ Laster said last month. “So, they could talk about what happened on Saturday, and Konata was a part of it, he was one of the captains. So, he’s doing a great job of leading those guys, getting those guys to rally together and just say, hey, the season’s not over, we still got a lot of ball to play.”

Mumpfield has hauled in a team-high 52 receptions for 813 yards (15.6 yards per reception) and five touchdowns. He’s recorded 154 receptions for 1,940 yards (12.6 yards per reception) and 11 touchdowns in his three seasons in Pittsburgh.

Konata Mumpfield looks the part of an NFL wide receiver, with four productive college seasons, elite route running ability and leadership intangibles. He has the chance to show NFL personnel more during the week in Arlington, Tx.

The 2025 Shrine Bowl will be held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, the home of the Dallas Cowboys, on Jan. 30, 2025.
