Pitt football Class of 2025

Pitt football signed 21 players to its 2025 recruiting class on early National Signing Day with every verbal pledge but one putting pen to paper.

The Panthers also added two late additions to the early signing period with running back Jaylin Brown joining the class and wide receiver Cam Sapp flipping his commitment from FAU.

With the craziness of signing day around college football and the recent decommitments of Elijah Dotson and DaMarion Fowlkes, Pitt’s team recruiting rankings shifted.

While Pitt’s recruiting class looks just about complete, the Panthers still could add to its high school class before the final signing day on Feb. 5, 2025.

Here’s how the Panthers stack up around the country on the Rivals.com, 247Sports and On3 recruiting services:

Rivals

Rivals.com ranks Pitt’s Class of 2025 higher than any other recruiting site at No. 43 with a total of 1,455 points. Pitt ranks 9th in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).

The Panthers are tied with Arizona, who holds 20 commitments in their class, and West Virginia, who signed 21 players on Wednesday.

Pitt’s highest-rated signee is cornerback Mason Alexander, who holds a 5.8 four-star rating. The 6-foot, 180-pound prospect from Fishers, Ind. committed to Pitt in late June and holds the best rating of a defensive back commit since Rashad Battle in 2020.

Wide receiver Tony Kinsler, linebacker Justin Thompson, running back Synkwan Smith and safety Joshua Guerrier all holds a high 5.7 three-star rating.

For comparison, Pitt’s 21-player 2024 class, according to Rivals, ranked No. 37, while the 2023 cycle finished at No. 52.

247Sports

247Sports ranks the Pitt Class of 2025 at No. 48 in the country, while it checks in at No. 11 in the ACC.

Pitt is situated in front of Houston (49) and UCLA (50), while it ranks behind Arizona State (47), Stanford (46) and Indiana (45).

Out of the 21 signees, Thomas Jefferson offensive lineman Shep Turk is rated the highest as an 89 three-star. He is ranked as the 41st offensive tackle in the country and 14th-best player in the state of Pennsylvania.

Quarterback Mason Heintschel, wide receiver Bryce Yates, safety Cole Woodson, Guerrier and Smith are next in line with an 88 three-star rating.

Both the 2024 and 2023 class finished at No. 56 on 247Sports.

On3

On3’s 2025 Industry Comparison — which takes into consideration the player ratings from each recruiting service, along with ESPN — has Pitt at No. 52 nationally and No. 11 in the ACC.

Pitt’s lone four-star recruit per On3 is Woodson, who owns a 90 rating and is the 36th-ranked player at his position. Alexander is listed with an 89 three-star rating.

Last year’s recruiting class finished No. 45 in the industry rankings, while 2023 was 51st.
