WPIAL and Penn Hills product Raion Strader.

After an outstanding WPIAL career at Penn Hills High School, Raion Strader went on to compile two impressive seasons with the Miami RedHawks in the Mid-American Conference.

Merely 24 hours ago, Strader announced that he had entered the transfer portal with two years of eligibility remaining and it has paid dividends as the defensive back is attracting a wave of interest from across the nation.

The 6-foot, 182-pound cornerback has received offers from Wisconsin, Auburn, Mississippi State, Nebraska, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Northwestern, Iowa State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Oregon State, Kansas, Virginia, Utah and Wake Forest.

Strader tells Pittsburgh Sports Now that he has lined up a visit with the Wisconsin Badgers on Dec. 14, while working to schedule more.

247Sports rates Strader as a 90 overall four-star transfer prospect.

It all comes after a sophomore season in which he earned All-MAC First-Team Defense honors. He led the FBS and conference in passes defended with 19, along with 53 total tackles and two interceptions.

Strader made an immediate impact as a true freshman, starting 12 games while notching 57 total tackles, 13 pass breakups and one interception on his way to earning Freshman All-American honors from the College Football News and Football Writers Association of America (FWAA). He was the first RedHawk to earn the honor since Ben Roethlisberger did so in 2001.

With his freshman performance, Strader helped the RedHawks go 11-3 and clinch their first MAC championship since 2019 against Toledo. Strader recorded four tackles in the win.

Prior to his time with Miami, Strader was named first-team all-conference as a junior and senior at Penn Hills.
