Pitt football is one of numerous schools showing interest in one of the most productive wide receivers available on the market.
According to Hayes Fawcett of On3, Pitt has reached out to FIU transfer wide out Eric Rivers since he entered the portal on Dec. 2.

Some of the other notable schools in contact with Rivers include Alabama, LSU, Miami, Penn State, Michigan, Texas A&M, South Carolina, Florida, Arkansas, SMU, Louisville, Clemson, Florida State, Colorado, Nebraska, Utah and more.
The 5-foot-11, 174-pound receiver had a breakout season this year as he ranked top-five in the country in receiving yards with 1,172 and touchdown receptions with 12. He recorded 62 receptions and averaged 18.9 yards per catch in 12 games of action this season as a redshirt junior.
On3’s Industry Ranking rates Rivers as the 6th-best wide receiver in the transfer portal and 11th player overall as 92.99 four-star.
In 2023, Rivers registered 32 receptions for 370 yards and a pair of touchdowns in his first season with FIU.
The Chattanooga, Tenn. native spent the first two years of his collegiate career with the Memphis Tigers. During his freshman campaign, he saw action in six game playing sparingly on special teams and defense. He missed the following season with an injury.
Rivers was a three-star high school prospect out of the McCallie School, where he won consecutive state championships. In his senior season, he notched 25 catches for 509 yards and seven touchdowns.
Pitt has been impacted by the transfer portal with 12 players entering so far, including receivers Daejon Reynolds and Lamar Seymore, but the Panthers have been just as active locating talent.
The Panthers offered a trio of wide receivers on Monday in Miami (OH) transfer Reggie Virgil, Charleston Southern transfer Noah Jennings and North Texas transfer DT Sheffield. Pitt has also received interest from Clemson transfer wide out Troy Stellato.
Pitt will be looking to add to its receiver corps with the departures of Reynolds and Seymore, along with the graduation of leading target Konata Mumpfield. Pitt’s top options returning next season include Kenny Johnson, Raphael “Poppi” Williams, Censere Lee, Zion Fowler-El and Tyreek Robinson.
