Revamping the offensive line is the top off-season priority for Pitt but they also have a few other things on their to do list.
Adding a couple of reliable, playmaking wide receivers and another veteran running back are two other things, along with trying to replace their most consistent offensive weapon.

Kicker Ben Sauls was nearly automatic for Pitt when they reached the opponents 40-yard line, which was comforting for the coaching staff.
Sauls was named a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award, which is given annually to the best place-kicker in college football, and PFF named him its midseason Lou Groza Award winner.
Sauls is the highest-rated kicker in college football by PFF. He drilled 18-of-21 field goal attempts (with a long of 58 yards) and all 41 of his point-after attempts — with a team-high 95 points.
He tied a program record with his 58-yarder against Cal in October, which was the longest field goal by a Pitt kicker at Acrisure Stadium. And with a 49-yarder against Syracuse later that month, he set the record for the most consecutive made field goals in program history.
Unfortunately, Sauls won’t be returning in 2025 as he takes his talents to the NFL.
So, Pat Narduzzi and special teams coach Jacob Bronowski are on the hunt to try and replace Sauls.
Over the last few weeks, Pitt has been in contact with a number of kickers in the transfer portal. In fact, this weekend, they’ll be hosting Charlotte transfer kicker Stephen Rusnak on an official visit.
That visit hasn’t stopped Pitt from exploring other options including high school kickers.
In fact, on Tuesday, Bronowski and Pitt extended an offer to 2025 kicker Trey Butkowski from Orlando, Florida. It’s unclear at this time if this is a scholarship offer or a PWO opportunity.
Butkowski is an interesting story considering he’s only played football for two seasons, having played soccer and lacrosse.
Butkowski caught a lot of people’s attention this season when he connected on a 58-yard field goal, which was a new record in Orlando-area high school football.
After receiving the news from Bronowski, PSN was able to get some quick thoughts from Butkowski on Pitt.
“I’m super excited about Pittsburgh,” said Butkowski. “I train in the same program as Alex Kessman, Ben Sauls and Caleb Junko. It’s a great offer and obviously no one really knows about scholarships or numbers with what is going on with the new roster limitations but PWO or scholarship, Pittsburgh is a great choice and I’m really excited about the opportunity to carry on the kicking tradition. I visited for the Cal game but hope to make my way back up there for a visit in January.”
