Desmond Reid and Kyle Louis have been racking up All-ACC honors since the season ended, but the Pitt stars can now add All-American honors, too.
Reid and Louis earned second-team All-American honors from CBS Sports, two of nine ACC players to earn the prestigious nod, and from The Athletic. CBS Sports and The Athletic are two of the official All-American indicators.
Reid was one of the most dynamic players in college football this season, racking up 797 rushing yards (5.3 yards per carry) and 564 receiving yards (12 yards per reception) in just 10 games. He was the heartbeat of the Pitt offense this season.
And Louis was the heartbeat of the Pitt defense, reaching heights unseen by any defensive players in college football. He recorded 96 tackles (41 solo), 16 tackles for loss, seven sacks, four interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), a forced fumble and two pass breakups.
“Well, I don’t do the (All-American) voting, but I know that I love that he’s on our team every single Saturday,” Cory Sanders said last month. “I do know that. I know that I love that he’s on our team every single practice, the way that he works, the way he shows and the way he makes everybody else better around him. So, at the end of the day, whoever does all that voting, hopefully they vote right.”
Pitt didn’t finish the way it wanted to this season, dropping five games in a row, but there’s still a bowl game against Toledo. The GameAbove Sports Bowl is the last chance to hit the field this season, but both are slated to return next season.
“(Desmond Reid) will be ready for a bowl game,” Narduzzi said after the season finale against Boston College.
Pitt and Toledo are scheduled to kick off at Ford Field on Dec. 26 at 2 p.m.
