Report: Pitt Receiving Visit From Big Ten Wide Receiver

Pitt is targeting wide receivers heavily in the early days of the transfer portal being open, and it’s paying off.

Pitt is set to host a former Freshman All-American wide receiver this weekend, and according to Pete Thamel of ESPN, he will be joined by Michigan State transfer wide receiver Jaron Glover.

Glover — a 6-foot-1, 180-pound rising junior wide receiver from Sarasota, Fla. — entered the transfer portal earlier this month and has received a lot of interest.

He is set to visit Mississippi State on Thursday and Pitt on Friday and Saturday.

Glover was initially a three-star wide receiver out of Riverview High in Sarasota, and he didn’t play much during his freshman season in 2022. But he’s shown flashes in the two years since, in limited playing time.

Glover has recorded 29 receptions for 453 yards (15.6 yards per reception) and two touchdowns. He hauled in 15 receptions for 192 yards (12.8 yards per reception) and two touchdowns this season.

According to PFF, he lined up out wide on just over 80% of his 113 passing snaps. He averaged 1.70 yards per route run with an average depth of target of 13.8 yards. He’s credited with three drops and made two of five contested catch opportunities.

He’s not really a yards after catch machine, but he’s able to stretch the field a bit (hauling in three of seven targets at least 20 yards downfield for 80 yards and a touchdown).

Pitt has been actively extended offers and setting up visits with portal wide receivers, and Glover looks like he’d be a good addition to the room.

The loss of Konata Mumpfield to the NFL hurts, and the losses of Daejon Reynolds and Lamar Seymore have hurt the depth in the room. Pitt needs an influx of talent, and the coaching staff has already been busy trying to add to the room.
