Pitt has a solid cornerback trio set to return next season, which bodes well for the backend of the defense, but there’s always room for impact playmakers.
Pitt is one of dozens of programs that have reached out to Georgia transfer cornerback Julian Humphery, according to Hayes Fawcett of On3.

Humphrey — a 6-foot-1, 195-pound rising junior — has received interest from Texas, Florida State, Miami, Oregon, LSU, Alabama, Ole Miss, Colorado, Ohio State, USC, Arizona, Pitt, Kansas, Louisville, Stanford, Arizona State, Houston, SMU, Texas A&M, Mississippi State, Kansas State, Missouri and Oklahoma State.
With the level of interest Humphrey is receiving, it seems unlikely that Pitt will have the firepower to stay in the hunt for too long.
Humphrey was initially a high four-star recruit out of Clear Lake in Houston, Tx. (rated as a four-star recruit again by 247Sports now) who held offers from just about every school in the country.
He served as a reserve cornerback over his first two seasons in Athens, Ga. but broke out as a starter this season.
According to PFF, he recorded 427 defensive snaps this season. He allowed 14 receptions and 238 yards on 25 targets, recording 10 tackles (nine solo) and four pass breakups in the process. His physical tools are apparent, possessing excellent length and track star speed.
Pitt has Ryland Gandy, Rashad Battle and Tamon Lynum set to return next season, which is a really solid trio to build around. Tamarion Crumpley and Shadarian Harrison will also be in the mix, and if the right player is available, it’s clear the Pitt coaches will take a chance in the portal.
Humphrey would be a strong addition to the room, but it’s going to be hard to land his services.
