Megan McConnell Explodes for 35 Points in Duquesne Win
Earlier in the week, McConnell led the Dukes to a win over Bucknell, dropping 13 points, six rebounds, four assists, and four steals in the victory.
The two-time All Atlantic 10 team member is now averaging 19.2 points per game this season while shooting 52% from the field and 41% from three-point range.
McConnell has started 112 games in her Duquesne career, and this year, is averaging career-high stats in points, assists, and steals per game. She is currently posting 5.7 assists and 4.4 steals per game for the Dukes, who have won six games in a row ever since losing to Kent State on the road. Duquesne is now 8-2 on the season with wins over Pitt, Princeton, and others.
“Her maturity off the floor has always been good, but she has taken that to another level in terms of her leadership capabilities,” Duquesne head coach Dan Burt said about McConnell after an early-season win over Robert Morris weeks ago. “Her goals are attainable and reachable, and that is, to win at Atlantic 10 championship and play in the NCAA Tournament, and to play in the WNBA. Those are all realistic goals.”
Duquesne’s next game will come on Saturday, Dec. 21 against Bowling Green at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse. That game will tip off at 12 p.m. est.
