A week after announcing his intentions to enter the transfer portal, former Pitt walk-on Thomas Aden has committed to a Mid-American program.
Aden — a 6-foot-1, 280-pounder out of IMG Academy as a post-graduate — committed to Kent State, he announced Sunday on X.
After submitting his name into the portal, Aden picked up his first offer from the Golden Flashes. He also added offers from Robert Morris, Charleston Southern and Gardner-Webb.
With the move to Kent State, Aden will have more of an opportunity to see the field after playing just one snap — against Syracuse on special teams — across three seasons with the Panthers. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Aden joined the Panthers as a preferred walk-on in 2022 after spending a post-grad year at IMG Academy where he compiled 20 tackles for loss and 11 sacks. Prior to that, Aden played his high school ball at St. Edwards in Lakewood, Ohio.
Pitt has lost four defensive lineman to the portal with scholarship players Nahki Johnson, Elliot Donald and David Ojiegbe, along with Aden.
A strong group is set to return up the middle next season with Sean FitzSimmons and Nick James highlighting the group as well as emerging players in Francis Brewu and Isaiah Neal. Jahsear Whittington is also expected to make an impact after redshirting this season.
Elsewhere, former Pitt cornerback Noah Biglow has committed to Louisiana Tech, while offensive lineman Terrence Moore has also landed in the MAC at Toledo.
