There are a lot of All-American teams announced at the end of the college football season, but the AP All-American team usually holds the most weight. And Pitt stars Desmond Reid and Kyle Louis have earned second-team All-American honors for their play this season.

Reid and LouisĀ earned second-team All-American honors from CBS Sports and The Athletic last week, and there will likely be a few more in the days to come.

Reid was one of the most dynamic players in college football this season, racking up 797 rushing yards (5.3 yards per carry) and 564 receiving yards (12 yards per reception) in just 10 games. He was the heartbeat of the Pitt offense this season.

And Louis was the heartbeat of the Pitt defense, reaching heights unseen by any defensive players in college football. He recorded 96 tackles (41 solo), 16 tackles for loss, seven sacks, four interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), a forced fumble and two pass breakups.

ā€œWell, I donā€™t do the (All-American) voting, but I know that I love that heā€™s on our team every single Saturday,ā€ Cory Sanders said last month. ā€œI do know that. I know that I love that heā€™s on our team every single practice, the way that he works, the way he shows and the way he makes everybody else better around him. So, at the end of the day, whoever does all that voting, hopefully they vote right.ā€

Pitt didnā€™t finish the way it wanted to this season, dropping five games in a row, but thereā€™s still a bowl game against Toledo. The GameAbove Sports Bowl is the last chance to hit the field this season, but both are slated to return next season.

ā€œ(Desmond Reid) will be ready for a bowl game,ā€ Narduzzi said after the season finale against Boston College.Ā

Pitt and Toledo are scheduled to kick off at Ford Field on Dec. 26 at 2 p.m.
