The big offensive tackle started 12 games this season for Wake Forest after transferring there from Indiana State, where he made 7 starts in 2023. Trost will have one season of eligibility remaining.
Pitt becomes the first program to extend an offer to Trost. Following his offer from the Panthers, Trost received offers from Florida State, California, Nebraska, Mississippi State, Stanford, Kansas, Virginia, Arizona and Northwestern.
While he’s played offensive tackle, the 6’5″, 310-pound Trost is a considered to be able to also play at offensive guard, which gives teams position flexibility. In terms of his strengths on the field, Trost is considered to be an excellent blocker in pass protection.
Three members of Pitt’s 2024 starting offensive line, Lyndon Cooper, Ryan Baer and BJ Williams have announced that they’ll be returning next season.
The Panthers will be losing Branson Taylor, Ryan Jacoby and Jason Collier Jr., who are graduation.
Pitt will likely be looking to add at least two offensive linemen through the transfer portal.
Over the weekend, Pitt hosted former Western Carolina offensive tackle Derrick Simmons on an official visit.
