New NBA Mock Draft Has Two Notable Names Going in First Round

In CBS Sports' latest NBA Mock Draft, two names from Pittsburgh were included in the first round projection: Jaland Lowe and Adou Thiero.

In CBS Sports’ latest NBA Mock Draft for 2025, two notable names from Pittsburgh were included in the first round projection: Jaland Lowe and Adou Thiero.

Pittsburgh native Adou Thiero went 25th overall to the Brooklyn Nets in the first round of the mock draft. Two picks later, Pitt point guard Jaland Lowe went 27th to the Golden State Warriors in the prediction.

Lowe is averaging 16.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game this season. The Missouri City, Texas native is shooting 38% from the field this year. After starting 19 of Pitt’s 33 games last season, he has started all 11 of Pitt’s games this year and has led the team to a 9-2 start.

Thiero is now playing for John Calipari at Arkansas, after playing for Calipari at Kentucky in years prior. He is having a career year, averaging 18 points per game along with 5.9 rebounds per contest.

Thiero is a junior this season. As a sophomore, he appeared in 25 games for the Wildcats. Thiero averaged 7.2 points and 4.96 rebounds per game on the year. Per Arkansas’ team notes, Thiero led the Kentucky team in rebounding in eight separate games and scored at least ten points five times. Thiero exploded for 16 points and 13 rebounds last season in an early-season contest against Kansas.

According to 247 Sports, Thiero was ranked as a four-star prospect coming out of Quaker Valley in high school. As a transfer, he ranked as the 27th-best portal option with a 95 rating.
