The 6’4″, 208-pound redshirt senior entered the transfer portal as a graduate transfer and was the first player to leave the Florida State program following the 2024 season.

Spann has many different chapters to his collegiate story as originally signed with Illinois after graduating from Lakewood High School in Saint Petersburg, Florida. Spann selected Illinois over a 25+ offers including ones from Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Louisville, Maryland, Miami, Ole Miss, Pitt, Purdue, Syracuse, Central Florida, Utah and Virginia Tech.

Coming out of high school, Spann actually signed with Illinois as a quarterback before converting to a wide receiver.

Spann transferred to Florida State in 2022 after just once season with Illinois. However, Spann didn’t make much of a mark within the Seminoles offense, making most of his contribution on special teams. Over two seasons as a returner, Spann collected 348 yards on 13 kickoff returns, averaging 26.8 yards per return.

Spann appeared in 27 games at Florida State and collected 15 catches for 216 yards and 2 touchdowns, along with 10 carries for 46 yards.

Considering his dual-threat potential, Spann is hoping that Kade Bell’s offense will be the one that unlocks his potential.

Pitt has lost 3 wide receivers from last year’s roster in Konata Mumpfield (graduation), Daejon Reynolds (transfer portal) and Lamar Seymore (transfer portal).
