Pitt has added its second commitment of the offseason from the transfer portal, supplementing the top recruiting class in the country.
Dan Fisher and the coaching staff secured a commitment from Florida State transfer Emery Dupes earlier today, and now there’s another from Illinois transfer Brooke Mosher. Mosher — a 6-foot redshirt junior setter from Waterloo, Wisc. — announced her commitment Monday afternoon on Instagram.
Like with Dupes, Mosher arrives to fill another position of need. It will be tough to replace the contributions of All-American setter Rachel Fairbanks, but Mosher has plenty of veteran experience and will compete with Haiti Tautua’a.
Mosher was a three-year starter at Illinois, playing in 338 sets during that time. She recorded 403 kills (1.19 per set), 2,075 assists (6.14 per set) and 727 digs (2.15 per set). She wasn’t the highest point scorer, but she was integral in the Illini system.
She made the switch from outside hitter to setter during her time at Illinois, emerging as a standout over the last two seasons.
She dished out 982 assists (8.61 per set) this season, adding 221 digs (1.94 per set), 43 aces (0.38 per set) and 98 kills to help lead the Illini to an 18-13 record and NCAA Tournament appearance.
Pitt is set to lose Klika, Rachel Fairbanks, Valeria Vazquez Gomez and Cat Flood this offseason, but there’s a strong core in place with Olivia Babcock, Torrey Stafford and Bre Kelley.
Pitt went 33-2 (19-1 ACC) and claimed the No. 1 overall ranking in the country through much of the season. The Panthers earned the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the Final Four yet again but ultimately fell short against Louisville. It was a tough loss, but the Panthers are in a position to return.
And with additions like Dupes, Fisher and the coaching staff are setting the foundation to finally push through the Final Four wall.
