One of the top running backs in WPIAL is leaving to play for another program.

Sources tells Pittsburgh Sports Now that Central Valley 2027 running back Jance Henry Jr. withdrew from school on Friday and plans to enroll at Archbishop Hoban High School in Akron, Ohio.

While no formal reason has been given for his departure, this move doesn’t come as a big surprise.

During his first two seasons with Central Valley, Henry has been a major contributor to head coach Mark Lyon’s offense.  Henry burst onto the scene as a freshman when he rushed for 1,008 yards and 13 touchdowns for Central Valley’s championship team.

The 5’9″, 192-pound back has caught the eye of college football programs having reported offers from Akron, Connecticut, Miami, Ohio., Michigan State, Ole Miss, NC State, Pitt, Syracuse, Temple, Toledo, UNLV, Central Florida, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

Henry is leaving one of the premiere football programs in the WPIAL and headed to Archbishop Hoban High School, which is perennially a force in the Akron area.

The loss of Henry leaves a big hole in the Warriors offense, considering standout quarterback Steven Rutherford and running back T. Mason Dixon are graduating. Knowing head coach Mark Lyons, this won’t be a rebuild situation just a reload.
