To this point much of Pitt’s focus in the transfer portal has been on improving the offensive line and at wide receiver but they are also looking at other positions.

With some of their more recent offers, the Panthers staff have looked at both tight end and defensive back.

The first offer went out to Southern Mississippi sophomore tight end Justyn Reid.

The 6’5”, 255-pound from Newnan, Georgia received the offer from Coach Jacob Bronowski.

In 2023, Reid played in all 12 games, mostly on special teams. This past season, he caught 7 passes  for 145 yards.

Pitt is losing Gavin Bartholomew to graduation and will be returning Jake Overman and Malachi Thomas.

Pitt’s most recent offer went out yesterday to University California, Davis defensive back Kavir Bains.

Since entering the portal on December 16, Bains has received offers from UNLV, Memphis, New Mexico, Eastern Michigan and New Hampshire.

Bains tells PSN that he plans on making an official visit to see the Pitt program on January 3rd.

The 5’10” safety has had a positive career at Cal-Davis. After redshirting in 2022, Bains collected 23 tackles in 2022, 43 tackles in 2023 and 77 tackles, 1 interception, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery this past season.
