Pitt had picked up three transfer commitments in the weeks leading up to Saturday, and in the span of six or so hours, the coaching staff secured commitments from six targets.
Pitt added an interior offensive lineman, a wide receiver, two defensive linemen and two defensive backs, securing a mixture of young, high-profile targets and older, more veteran options. It was an exceedingly good day for the coaching staff, adding at a variety of needs.

So, let’s recap who the Pitt coaching staff added to the roster on Saturday.
Blaine Spires — Utah State transfer defensive end
Spires (6-foot-3, 235 pounds) is entering his final season of eligibility after three seasons at Bowling Green and two seasons at Utah State. He’s an edge rusher who fits the system well, adding a potential starter — and an experienced rotational piece if nothing else.
Keith Gouveia — Richmond transfer interior offensive lineman
Gouveia (6-foot-4, 310 pounds) is entering his final season of eligibility after four seasons with Richmond. He went through an injury-riddled season this year, starting just three games, but he’s an experienced starter at guard. He offers valuable depth with the potential to compete for a starting spot.
Jayden Bonsu — Ohio State transfer safety
Bonsu (6-foot-2, 205 pounds) has three seasons of eligibility after spending two seasons at Ohio State, not seeing the field. He’s a former four-star recruit with the versatility to play either safety spot, and even drop down to linebacker if needed. He will be a player to follow as the spring season arrives.
Andy Jean — Florida transfer wide receiver
Jean (6-foot-1, 185 pounds) has three seasons of eligibility remaining following two seasons at Florida. He played sparingly during his two seasons with the Gators, but he’s another former four-star recruit with the skill set to make an impact at Pitt. He fits the Pitt offense well, possessing the speed that offensive coordinator Kade Bell desires.
Joey Zelinsky — Eastern Michigan transfer defensive lineman
Zelinsky (6-foot-4, 250 pounds) has one season of eligibility remaining after a season of junior college and three seasons at Eastern Michigan. He’s benefitting from the new NCAA waiver, giving the Panthers a much-needed veteran presence with the versatility to play inside and outside.
Rashan Murray — California (Pa.) transfer cornerback
Murray (6-foot-2, 185 pounds) has one season of eligibility remaining after spending three seasons at California (Pa.), emerging as an All-American this season. He’s a big, physical corner who thrived at the Division II level, so while his transition to Division I remains unseen, he offers an intriguing option in the cornerback rotation.
