After several offers and visits for Upper St. Clair graduate and WPIAL product David Pantelis, the sought after transfer wide receiver made his decision Sunday night to sign with an ACC program.
Pantelis — a 5-foot-11, 200-pound receiver — will go from one prestigious academic institution to another as he signed with the Stanford Cardinal, he confirmed with Pittsburgh Sports Now. He has one year of eligibility remaining.
Pantelis entered the portal on Nov. 29 after four seasons at Yale and quickly received interest from schools such as Michigan, Missouri, Kentucky, West Virginia, Cal and Stanford. He was coming off a weekend visit at Michigan.
He commits to a Stanford program that concluded its first season in the ACC with a 3-9 overall record and 2-6 mark in conference. In 2025, the Cardinal are projected to host the Pitt Panthers with a date still to be determined.
This past fall, Pantelis earned First Team All-Ivy League honors after putting up career numbers with 61 receptions for 901 yards and eight touchdowns.
Through the first three seasons at Yale, Pantelis appeared in 23 games, totaling 58 receptions for 760 yards and six touchdowns.
At Upper St. Clair, Pantelis caught 33 passes for 490 yards and seven touchdowns during a shortened COVID-19 senior season. As a junior, he recored 77 receptions for 1,169 yards and nine touchdowns for the Panthers.
Pantelis now becomes the ninth player from the WPIAL or the Pittsburgh City League to commit to a Power Four program.
