The University of Pittsburgh and Director of Athletics Allen Greene announced on Wednesday that volleyball head coach Dan Fisher has signed a new contract extension that will run through at least the 2030 season.

Fisher has guided Pitt volleyball to new heights in his 12-year tenure with the program, including four consecutive NCAA Final Four appearances.

“Dan Fisher has built an elite volleyball program at the University of Pittsburgh in every respect,” Greene said in a press release. “His team, on and off the court, has captured the attention and hearts of our entire region, filling arenas and becoming ‘must-see TV.’ While his coaching acumen is nationally renowned, I believe Dan’s greatest strength is the genuine relationships he forms with his student-athletes and the strong team culture he builds. That’s why Pitt is a destination for top volleyball talent from coast to coast. Personally speaking, I deeply appreciate the relationship Dan and I have formed in a relatively short period of time, and am excited to lock arms with him as he prepares his team for another championship run.”

Fisher was named the 2024 AVCA National Coach of the Year and ACC Coach of the Year as he led the top-ranked Panthers to a 33-2 record and a fourth Final Four appearance before falling to Louisville.

The extension news comes two days after Erik Sullivan was named the U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team, a position in which Fisher was rumored as a top candidate.

“I’m grateful to be in a community and at a university that values and supports volleyball,” Fisher said in the press release. “I’m specifically grateful to Chancellor Joan Gabel and Allen Greene for the trust they put into our program. In these uncertain times in college athletics, it feels good to have a partner like Allen to chart these unknown waters with. I am appreciative of the impact he has made in a short amount of time and am excited to continue chasing championships with this team and staff.”

Under Fisher, Pitt has won six ACC titles and recorded more wins in the last seven seasons than any other Division I program. Pitt is also the only team in the nation to advance to the 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 National Semifinal.

In 2024, Fisher coached the AVCA National Player of the Year in sophomore Olivia Babcock, who was also named a First Team All-American. Rachel Fairbanks and Torrey Stafford were also named First Team All-Americans, while Bre Kelley earned Second-Team honors.
