Pitt is in a favorable position to land one of the top 2026 prospects in the WPIAL after he included the Panthers in his top six options.
David Davis — a 6-foot, 190-pound athlete out of Imani Christian Academy — announced his top six schools Tuesday evening with Pitt, Penn State, Michigan State, West Virginia, Nebraska and Cincinnati making up the finalists.

The rising senior has been recruited heavily by Pitt over the past few years after picking up an offer as a freshman in 2022 and he has built a strong connection with the program since.
“I put Pitt in my top six because of their strong football tradition and the opportunity to play close to home,” Davis told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “The coaching staff has shown a lot of interest in me.”
“Being recruited hard by the hometown program means a lot. It shows that they believe in my abilities and see me as a key part of their future. It’s also great to have the support of the local community,” Davis added.
Davis — a 5.7 three-star and 11th-ranked player in the state according to Rivals— is being recruited specifically as a defensive back with assistant head coach and safeties coach Cory Sanders leading the way.
“The relationship has been great— he’s been very supportive and straightforward about how they see me fitting into the team,” Davis said about Sanders.
During the fall, Davis made a gameday visit to the North Shore to watch the Panthers defeat West Virginia in the Backyard Brawl.
“It was a great game overall,” Davis said back in September. “The atmosphere was turnt. You got to give the QB his props on being able to stay calm and get his team through the game even though they were down.”
Davis was a key piece on Imani Christian Academy playing both running back and defensive back as the Saints posted an 11-1 record and perfect 6-0 conference record.
While Pitt has yet to land a 2026 prospect, it is now in several top lists, including four-star Westinghouse defensive back Kyshawn Robinson, four-star tight end Lincoln Watkins from Michigan, four-star offensive lineman Khalief Canty Jr. and three-star New York wide receiver Messiah Hampton.
