Hopewell’s James Armstrong’s Reaction to Attending Pitt’s Junior Day

Pitt’s Junior Day was held today but this event wasn’t exclusive to 11th graders.
One of the many players in attendance was Hopewell 9th grade quarterback James Armstrong, who earlier this week received his first D-1 offer from the Panthers.
The fact that Armstrong was invited despite being only in 9th grade is likely an indication of where he stands with him. Keep in mind, he was the first WPIAL player in the Class of 2028 to receive an offer from Pitt.
“Being able to go there today was great,” said Armstrong. “I got there and went right into watching a video describing Pitt football and then the coaches introduced themselves. After that, we went into position meetings and then to the game.”
“Where there, I talked to Coach Bell and Coach LaSala the most. With Coach Bell, we talked about the offense and how their offense is built around their quarterback and Coach LaSala was just about everything.”
This was the first time Armstrong has visited Pitt but considering this was the first time attending with an offer from the Panthers, did it feel different in anyway?
“It didn’t feel different because I was never there with all of the coaches when I didn’t have an offer,” said Armstrong.
This past season for the Vikings, Armstrong was 91 of 187 for 1,372 passing yards and 11 touchdowns. On the ground, ‘Boo Boo’ rushed the ball 205 times for 746 yards and 14 touchdowns. This performance earned him a 1st Team All-Conference honor.
After receiving the offer from Pitt, Armstrong picked up his second offer from Brennan Marion and Sacramento State.
