Former Pitt Stars Thriving in Professional Basketball World

Several former Pitt Panthers are playing professional basketball at the moment, led by Cam Johnson in the NBA.
Let’s check in on the former Panthers who are still hooping professionally.
CAM JOHNSON – BROOKLYN NETS (USA)
Johnson is having a career year in year seven in the NBA, averaging 19.4 points per game and shooting 42% from three for the Nets.
BUB CARRINGTON – WASHINGTON WIZARDS (USA)
Carrington is the lone Panther from Jeff Capel’s tenure drafted in the first round. The Baltimore native has been an intriguing piece for the rebuilding Washington Wizards, and is leading all rookies in minutes per game.
JUSTIN CHAMPAGNIE – WASHINGTON WIZARDS (USA)
Champagnie is having a career year with the Wizards alongside Carrington. He is 8.7 points per game, shooting 41% from three in 21 minutes per game. This is his fourth NBA season.
STEVEN ADAMS – HOUSTON ROCKETS (USA)
Adams is averaging 2.8 points per game this year for the Rockets, in his 11th NBA season. He has played in 28 games, all off the bench.
BLAKE HINSON – SANTA CRUZ WARRIORS (USA)
Hinson has been in the NBA G League all season. He has played in 16 games, and is averaging over 12 points per contest. Hinson is shooting 31% from three-point range, shooting 6.9 per game.
MO GUEYE – CAPITAL CITY GO-GO (USA)
Gueye has been on the Wizards’ G League team throughout the year, and has played in 16 games. He is averaging more than 10 points and five rebounds per game so far this year, and is shooting 50% from the field.
ITHIEL HORTON – GRAND RAPIDS GOLD (USA)
Horton is averaging 4.3 points per game in the G League. He has played in 11 games, and is averaging 13 minutes per contest.
NIKE SIBANDE – BASQUET GIRONA (SPAIN)
Sibande, the former ACC Sixth Man of the Year, joined Basquet Girona this summer, and has been solid in the top league in Europe. He is currently averaging 6.7 points per game, while shooting 40% from the field and 30% from three-point land.
JAMARIUS BURTON – OSE LIONS (HUNGARY)
According to EuroBasket, Burton is currently in Hungary playing for OSE Lions. He has played ten games for the squad, and is averaging 18.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game. He is shooting 42% from three-point range.
GREG ELLIOTT – NAESTVED (DENMARK)
Elliott is having a tremendous season in Denmark, shooting over 50% from three-point range. He is averaging 13.9 points per game, and has made more threes (48) than he has attempted two pointers (42).
TALIB ZANNA – CIBONA (CROATIA)
Zanna is averaging 4.2 points and 3.6 rebounds per game in Croatia in the 2024-25 season. He is in his tenth season of pro ball.
RYAN LUTHER (JAPAN)
Luther is averaging 13+ points per game and is shooting 37% from three-point range so far in the 2024-25 season in Japan.
JARED WILSON-FRAME (UNITED KINGDOM)
Wilson-Frame has been all over the world in his five seasons of professional basketball, and is now playing in the UK. He is averaging 16.1 points per game for the Caledonia Gladiators.
COREY MANIGAULT (CZECH REPUBLIC)
Manigault, who transferred out of Pitt to play at New Mexico, is having a nice year in the Czech Republic, averaging 8 points per game for NH Ostrava.
TREY MCGOWENS (HUNGARY)
McGowens has bounced around a few teams recently, playing in the G League, then Poland, now Hungary. He is averaging 8+ points per game for Zalakeramia ZTE KK in Hungary’s A Division.
AU’DIESE TONEY (GREECE)
After spending two seasons in the G League, Toney is now playing for Kolossos H Hotels in Greece, and is averaging 7.3 points per game.
DAN OLADAPO (ISRAEL)
Oladapo has played in ten games in the 2024-25 season, and is averaging 12.6 points per game.
MARCUS CARR (ISRAEL)
Carr is averaging 34 minutes per game for his new team in Israel, H. Galil Elion. He is scoring 16.2 points per game on average.
Josh Newkirk, Jamel Artis, Gary McGhee, Sidy N’Dir, Shamiel Stevenson, Malik Ellison, and Nelly Cummings are on the “Panthers in the Pros” board below, but have not logged stats this season, per Eurobasket and Proballers.
