Kenny Pickett, Avonte Maddox Heading to the Super Bowl

Kenny Pickett and Avonte Maddox are headed to the Super Bowl — and Pickett taking a knee iced the opportunity.

With a 55-24 win against the Washington Commanders, the Philadelphia Eagles advanced to the Super Bowl for the first time since Super Bowl LVII in 2023. It’s the first appearance for Pickett and the second for Maddox.

It wasn’t the most productive season for either Pickett or Maddox, but they’ve both stepped in when called upon this season — especially Pickett late in the season.

Pickett is healthy, after dealing with a rib injury that sidelined him in the Eagles’ regular-season finale, but he won’t see the field unless starter Jalen Hurts goes down. He completed 25-of-42 pass attempts for 291 yards with three total touchdowns (two passing) and an interception this season.

With Hurts’ uncertain health status, starting but unlikely 100%, Pickett still has the potential to step into the spotlight on the biggest stage in football.

Avonte Maddox played in all 17 games during the regular season, serving primarily as a reserve corner. He recorded 20 tackles (nine solo) and five pass breakups. He’s an experienced playoff performer, playing in all three playoff games this season.

The Eagles will play the winner of the AFC championship game (the Buffalo Bills or the Kansas City Chiefs) in Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 9 at the Superdome in New Orleans, Louis.
