Many basketball fans around the country have seen Bub Carrington shine, whether it was in high school, at Pitt, or now in the NBA.

Former Pitt guard Bub Carrington will participate in this year’s NBA All-Star Weekend, just one year after playing for Jeff Capel’s Pitt team.

Carrington was selected to play in the Rising Stars game, which will be played on Friday, Feb. 14 at 9 p.m.

Fellow Washington Wizards players Bilal Coulibaly and Alex Sarr are also competing in the Rising Stars game.

Carrington, a 6-foot-4 guard, is averaging 8.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game. He has started 34 games, and is playing 29.8 minutes per game — which leads all rookies in the NBA.

Carrington, the No. 14 overall pick in this past year’s NBA Draft by the Washington Wizards, opened at +3000 to win the NBA’s prestigious Rookie of the Year award. He is now at +15000 to win the award.

Carrington started 33 games for Pitt as a rookie, averaging 13.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game. The Baltimore, Maryland native shot 41% from the field and 32% from three-point range in his freshman campaign, and alongside Jaland Lowe and Ishmael Leggett, starred for the Panthers in the back court.

Carrington went No. 14 overall in the most recent NBA Draft, making his way from the Portland Trail Blazers to the Washington Wizards via trade. Carrington was the first player drafted in the first round from a Jeff-Capel-led Pitt team.
