“Before we leave today, Vason, I need you to see Coach Regan,” Jeff Capel said in a team huddle. “I need you to see and talk to Coach Regan, alright? You’ve earned a scholarship.”
Stevenson is 6-foot-3 forward for the Panthers. He played his high-school ball in the WPIAL for Montour High School. He wears number 21 for the Panthers. Stevenson played in two games for a total of three minutes as a sophomore. He grabbed one rebound in his limited action on the floor. He has not played this year in game action.
Stevenson finished in 2nd place in the WPIAL finals just a few years back, losing to Adou Thiero, Markus Frank, and Quaker Valley in the Petersen Events Center. Stevenson exploded for 23 points and eight rebounds in the loss.
Stevenson was now one of four walk-ons on the Pitt roster. Below are the other walk ons.
This announcement comes on the same day that Pitt will take on North Carolina at the Petersen Events Center. On Tuesday at 9 p.m., the Panthers will tip off against the Tar Heels in an ACC battle. Stay tuned on Pittsburgh Sports Now for coverage before, during, and after the game between Capel and Hubert Davis’ squads.
